New home and new season

We are settling into our new rental home just as our school routine is about to be changed for summer! Luca has 8 more days of kindergarten (he is the one counting down, not me) Tomorrow is Juliette's last day of preschool, 2014-2015 at the PlayGarden. I can't even believe it! She has grown this year from not wanting to go to preschool at all to now loving it! She will go back to the PlayGarden preschool in the fall on Tuesdays and Fridays. It has been a tremendous year of growth for both Luca and Juliette. Luca has learned to read, write, add, subtract, and so much more!

I feel that we are entering a new season in many ways. The kids are getting older and more independent. We are loving our new home and the play room space for the kids. It has been really neat to walk Luca's school and get to know more people in the Lafayette community. I feel like I have gotten to know more families in 2 weeks than I did all year long while we were living 4 miles away.

I am just getting over a sinus infection that I have been sick for the last several weeks. I could do a whole post on the experience of losing my sense of smell, taste and some hearing for two weeks. It was a unusually experience and also made me reflect on how often I take those senses for granted. How different society and I would be if we didn't have a sense of taste, right? or smell, or hearing. I feel like I am coming out of some kind of fog with feeling better and I am grateful to be well again. I did run a 5 mile trail run in the midst of the sinus infection. Not my best run of all time but it was so good to be out on the trails and I am glad felt well enough to do it! My Grandmother, Oma, also passed away right after we moved. I went down to AZ to be there with my parents for the memorial service. It was a beautiful time to reflect on Oma's life and the legacy she left with each of us.

I have included a bunch of pictures from the last month. I am sure I could write a whole post of every picture but in the interest of time, I will catch you up quickly. We have had a full month! I am grateful for so much and for this new season that we are in!

Here are a few pictures of our last few weeks
Juliette found a bug in our new yard. She said, "look mom, a rolly polly bug"
One of Luca's friend's, Riley, made leg brakes for her special stuffed animal piggie. So sweet that Luca's friend wanted her special pig to have AFO's like Luca. It just blows me away the way his classmates have included him and the great friends he has made! We are so thankful for such a great school!
